The first time I saw Big Ben, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe you could just stand on the riverside at Vauxhall and see it. Wow, there it is. There was no fee, no ticket, it was just there and it seemed like a dream to me.

I went to a World War 2-themed event at the Churchill Museum; it was a dark, misty winter evening, and when I left the museum to go to Westminster tube, the face of Big Ben looked like a full moon. And then the bell chimed 10:00 pm, and I felt like it was 1945.
